Leah Zarembo was born in 1956 in Moscow (USSR).
Repatriated to Israel in 1990. Prize in memory Ish Shalom for new immigrants
artists.
The works of Boris Karafelov are to be found in galleries and private
collections in
Israel, Russia, USA, Holland, Spain, and Germany.
From Jeffrey Gusfield & Joseph Glimer survey:
"Newly immigrated to Israel in 1990, Boris Karafelov
is quickly becoming known as
one of the young masters in contemporary Jewish painting. He is a persistent,
academically trained painter, who speaks the language of Shagall, Kandinsky,
and
Rouault; however he has forged ahead in a new direction that is captivatingly
beautiful.
Karafelov utilizes an Impressionistic brush stroke,
and is an intensely brilliant colorist.
His paintings consist of intimate views of Russia and Israel; landscapes,
biblical subjects
and rich views of contemporary cultural life in Jerusalem. The newfound
freedom of Israel
has contributed joy and inspired light in his art.
The traditions of the great Russian-Jewish painter
are alive here. So is the innovation
that stems from a re-examination of the previous century of art, but
with a fresh view point
that indicates inimitable style.
In an extremely short period of time, the world
has begun to discover this artist. We are
extremely proud to introduce him to America."

Piotr Barsony's work may just gave you the hint he comes from a comics illustrator background... The Manga, Raw, as well as several other publications in Brazil, Holland, Germany, Spain, Japan and France over a period of 10 years. In 1985, his work was exhibited at "Papier Gras" Gallery in Geneva, Switzerland and in 1987 at La Hune Gallery/Bookstore on the occasion of the publication of his album collection on "Marc Edito". However, today he devotes himself entirely to painting, quietly installed in his workshop just outside of Paris.
Born in Toulouse, a beautiful city in Southwestern France, Barsony has always been influenced by television and those crossroads where images and cultural signs meet to boost his creative energy. As he would put it: "I simply read the signs of the times". He has done yearly exhibits at the Nieszawer Gallery since 1988, his work has been in published auction at the Drouot Auction House in Paris from 1988 through 1992.
